Deborah Henry crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2011

model and celebrity Deborah Henry achieved a rare double when she was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 last month, having already taken the Miss World Malaysia title earlier.
Deborah became the 49th Miss Universe Malaysia and received her crown from Miss Universe Malaysia 2010, Nadine Ann Thomas at the Smoke and Fire Variety Club in the Gardens Mall.
Miss Universe Malaysia Pageant national director Andrea Fonseka said Deborah personifies all of the values and attributes of a Miss Universe which includes professionalism, intelligence and dedication to her country.
She will represent Malaysia at the Miss Universe pageant in Sao Paolo, Brazil on Sept 12.
The newly-crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 said it was a great honour and privilege to represent the country. She said it is meaningful as the outpouring of support from the public was a key tipping point in getting this opportunity.
Deborah said the Miss Universe Malaysia organisation provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals while instilling a spirit of community services through various key initiative that are undertaken every year.
Andrea intends to improve the pageant further by introducing a new format that will see Miss Malaysia being crowned a year before going to Miss Universe to allow more time to train for the pageant.
Along with the title, Deborah won a RM50,000 prize purse, use of office facilities in Mont Kiara worth RM50,000, RM25,000 dental smile enhancement package from mydentist, RM20,000 worth of Farah Khan dresses, RM15,000 worth of Suhara Jewellery, a year’s supply of MaxFactor make-up and a year’s worth of hair services from A Cut Above.
